The iconic Ford Explorer is going to receive a premium Sony audio system with Live Acoustics and Clear Phase! These technologies are typically only seen in high-end home audio systems, but now drivers of the SUV will get to experience the high-quality sound that Live Acoustics and Clear Phase yield while on the road.

Ford says the industry-first Sony audio system is designed to accurately reproduce the acoustics and ambience of some of the world’s best concert halls, so audiophiles can enjoy the perfect soundtrack on their commutes. The system will come standard on the top-of-the-line 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum trim level and was created by Sony engineers who measured the acoustic qualities of great halls in Vienna, Berlin and Amsterdam.

In an effort to deliver what will be the finest audio experience one can have when driving, the audio system’s makers spent over 100 hours tuning the system, which includes 12 speakers, a subwoofer, door woofers, chrome tweeters and other elements that contribute to high sound quality.

“Explorer is about pushing boundaries,” says Matt Zuehlk, Ford Explorer brand manager, “and authentic high-end home theater sound isn’t just for the living room anymore. The new Platinum series gives customers everything - including a sound system that will knock your socks off.”

If you’re a hardcore music enthusiast, the 2016 Explorer Platinum is a vehicle you have to come test out. It goes on sale this summer at Grapevine Ford - stay tuned for its official release!
