The release of the 2017 Ford Fusion has been a pretty big deal in the sedan market--after all, it shook the very foundation even back in 2012-2013 when Ford introduced the second-generation design. It was shocking, it was provocative, it was tempting, and it was absolutely beautiful.

And drivers all across Texas loved it. But, for 2017, the Fusion is even better.

The sedan sees only mild styling updates--because how could you improve on that second-gen swagger? The real changes come in the form of advanced and outstanding technology upgrades, an expansion of the model lineup, and the very exciting addition of Ford's 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, with 325 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, into the options list.

Here's what the new 2017 Ford Fusion trim level lineup looks like:

  • Fusion S: lots of standard features
  • Fusion SE: available with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive
  • Fusion Titanium: sleek and supreme comfort
  • NEW Fusion Sport: 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine and standard AWD
  • NEW Fusion Platinum: cream-of-the-crop in the lineup

The new model is much more than just a few new trims, though: it's been tweaked inside and out to offer the ultimate driver experience.

The conventional SYNC system was swapped out in higher trim levels in favor of a MyFord Touch SYNC 3 system, which offers a distinctly quicker and more responsive return when interacted with, and which integrates easily with your Apple or Android smartphone.

Need directions? Need to call your mom? Need to find a great local restaurant? Simply push the voice recognition button (on properly-equipped and connected vehicles) and your Fusion will prompt Siri or Google Now to take your instructions.

Even the center console sees upgrades and readjustments for the 2017 model year--the classic automatic shifter has been removed and replaced with a sleek, small rotary dial, giving you more room and easier access to that central area. No more spilled coffee in this Fusion.

TechRadar called it "the best mid-size car you can buy"--and we're inclined to agree. From front to back, and inside to out, the 2017 Fusion is just cool. And, with Fusion inventory selection growing, there's more choices to be had than ever.
