Off-roading is a popular sport/hobby and an exciting way to get back to nature. However, it’s dangerous, especially to the uninitiated and potentially careless. We want the drivers of Grapevine to be safe always, so allow us to give you a small primer on the safe way to get into off-roading.
Proper Trails
Finding the right trails is very important. Open public land isn’t all suited for off-roading, and some trails are more suited to some vehicles than others. Knowing the right trail services and guides is very important to safe off-roading.
Safety
Safety is the most important thing no matter what. Disregarding safety isn’t brave, it’s just plain stupid. Make sure your vehicle has a roll cage, and that you’ve got the winches, tire repair gear and communications/positioning tools to never be stranded and/or lost out there. Always have someone along, and make sure one of them is properly experienced.
To Mod or Not to Mod?
Do you need to mod your vehicle? Not necessarily – know your climate, terrain and your vehicle. Take it for a spin on a safer trail first, and see if anything really needs to be done; you’d be surprised how often mods aren’t that needed.
