What's New For the 2019 Ford Explorer?

The Ford Explorer has been one of the more popular models in the midsize SUV segment for decades. Since its introduction in 1991, it has transformed dramatically across five generations. The 2018 Explorer was revamped dramatically with a redesigned front end, the introduction of new features, and the availability of beautiful new interior and exterior colors. With numerous enhancements made to the 2018 model, the 2019 Explorer has only been retouched slightly.

5 Design Trims & Enhanced Features

For the 2019 model year there are five trims to choose from which include the base Explorer trim as well as the XLT, Limited, Sport, and Platinum trims. All five trims have exceptional design elements, quality materials, and a lengthy list of features to improve your time on the road. At the base level, you can benefit from power door locks, cruise control, automatic up-down power windows, single-zone climate control with manual operation, a standard audio system with six speakers, a USB port, cloth interior, manual operation for the folding rear seats, power-adjustable and heated side mirrors and additional equipment.

The Platinum trim is at the highest end of the spectrum. Its features include a push-button ignition with intelligent access, a moonroof, heated and power-adjustable front seats, quality leather interior, power-adjustable driver's pedals with a memory setting, power-folding rear seats, SiriusXM radio, an upgraded sound system, LED tail lights, a rear spoiler, parking assistance mated with a rearview monitor, automatic LED headlamps and fog lamps, adaptive cruise control, mounted controls on a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel and additional items.

What's Under the Hood?

2019 Ford ExplorerTodays' SUV shoppers understandably expect exceptional performance from their new vehicles, and the 2019 Ford Explorer will not disappoint you. Three gas powertrains are available based on the trim that you prefer. One of the options is a Ti-VCT V6, 3.5-liter engine that gives you 290 horsepower as well as 255 foot-pounds torque. You can also benefit from 280 horsepower with 310 foot-pounds of torque through an EcoBoost 2.3-liter engine. In addition to these options, you may opt for an Explorer loaded with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost powertrain. It delivers 350 foot-pounds for torque with 365 horsepower. Regardless of your powertrain selection, your Explorer will be equipped with a front and rear independent suspension system, powered electric steering and an automatic transmission. It may also be loaded with trailer sway control, hill start assist, terrain management control and hill descent control.
