Another all-electric model is joining the Ford family. The F-150 Lightning will bring new levels of innovation to the Blue Oval's truck lineup. Can't wait for its release? Contact us below for updates!
For decades, the F-150 has been one of the most popular vehicles made by Ford. The Ford F-150 has earned a reputation as a solid and reliable work truck, and it consistently ranks at the top of its class. In spring 2021, Ford announced the F-150 Lightning. The Lightning is a variation of the classic F-150 that uses an electric powertrain for performance. The Lightning will have many impressive credentials, including the most torque output out of any F-150 to date. The F-150 Lightning also has premium technology, many safety aids, and an overall quiet and comfortable cabin.
Although Ford has stated that the F-150 Lightning will come in three trim levels: the XLT, Platinum, and Lariat, the automaker hasn't provided further details on the exact list of features you can get with each trim level. However, details have been released on some notable equipment that will ride onboard with the latest F-150. The Lightning will include Ford's latest infotainment technology called SYNC4, a user-friendly infotainment system. This technology consists of a customizable interface with a sleek and stylish 15.5-inch touchscreen display. SYNC 4 includes wireless connectivity for your favorite apps, including Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and Apple CarPlay.
Along with this touchscreen, drivers will also get a separate 12-inch digital instrument cluster. This screen will provide up-to-date information on Lightning's performance and statistics. The Lightning will have plenty of interior space for people to sit comfortably. All the storage space you need is provided in the trunk bed, throughout the cabin, and in Ford's front-mounted trunk.
The Lightning will have an equally impressive mechanical configuration. A battery-powered electric motor is standard to provide up to 563 HP and 775 LB-FT of torque, the most torque available out of any F-150 model on the road. The Ford Lightning will have up to 2,000 pounds of top payload, and it will have a good tow rating of up to 10,000 pounds. The Ford Lightning can accelerate quickly, too, with the capacity to go from a standstill to 60 MPH in four seconds. An extended-range battery is available on select trim levels.
Advanced safety equipment on the Ford F-150 Lightning includes the Ford Co-Pilot360 safety suite. This package of safety aids includes blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, forward collision avoidance, and more.
