What's New for the 2025 Ford Explorer?

For years, the Ford Explorer has been a popular choice among three-row SUVs, and with a few tweaks for the 2025 model year, it's now better than ever. The Explorer's exterior and interior have been updated to remain fresh and competitive. For 2025, the front and rear of the Explorer sport a new design. The cabin has also been refreshed, with a Google-based infotainment system added. Some trims also offer BlueCruise as a feature.

What Trims & Features Does the 2025 Explorer Offer?

The 2025 Ford Explorer is available in four trim levels.

The base model is called the Active and offers plenty of amenities, including tri-zone climate control, multi-way adjustable heated front seats, keyless entry, push-button start, and second-row captain's chairs for seating up to seven passengers. The Active also has wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Google voice commands and navigation, a digital instrument cluster, and a six-speaker audio system. It rides on 18-inch wheels and includes a power liftgate and LED lighting. You can opt for an additional package with a heated steering wheel, a remote start, a more adjustable front passenger seat, and synthetic leather seating.

The ST-Line trim adds sportier styling and enhanced features. It features a black grille, black body cladding, and darker headlights & taillights for a more aggressive look. The ST-Line also rides on larger 20-inch wheels and features black synthetic leather seats with red stitching. It includes more advanced safety systems and a premium B&O sound system with ten speakers.

The ST trim upgrades to 21-inch wheels, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated second-row seats.

The Platinum trim offers a dual-pane sunroof, leather seating, a 14-speaker sound system, and adaptive headlights.

What's the Horsepower of the 2025 Explorer?

The standard engine on the Explorer is a 2.3L four-cylinder that delivers 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.

A turbocharged 3.0L V6 engine, producing 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque, powers the ST and is optional for the Platinum trim.

What Safety Features Does the 2025 Explorer Include?

The Explorer's standard safety suite includes rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane centering, intersection collision avoidance, and evasive steering assistance.
