What's New for the 2020 Ford F-150?

In the last model year, the Ford F-150, split between a tough haul-anything back bed and expansive cabin as opulent as any sedan, maintained a comfortable sales lead against the competition. With so many thumbs up, the only big change this pickup needed for 2020 was to apply the Ford CoPilot360 safety suite to all 7 models. While this may not mean the F-150 has reached total perfection, looking at the following info, it seems awfully close.

What are the F-150 Trims & Features?

Pickup trucks might have once been associated with rough, Spartan accommodations, but whether it's the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, or Raptor, those days are long over. The XL begins with amenities like air conditioning, AM/FM stereo, a 2.3-inch touchscreen, and a 12-volt outlet in the Regular cab selection that becomes 2 outlets in the SuperCab and SuperCrew configurations.

The XLT brings in a 4.2-inch touchscreen and power locks and windows. Comfort levels go up with the Lariat edition making the touchscreen 8 inches, the climate system dual-zone, and the front leather-covered seats motorized with 10 driver-side positions. A 110-volt inverter and rear heated seats are part of the F-150 King Ranch edition's charms. The Platinum trim shows the way in front and back with LED lights. The Limited trim also provides a nice view through a 360-degree camera.

Raw Power and Stellar Performance

2020 Ford F-150The 2020 F-150 supplies 6 ways to get things in motion starting with a general-purpose 3.3-liter V6 that tackles chores with 290 horses. It's the only block linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission for 19 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. All other engines in the lineup utilize a 10-speed automatic transmission. Big results come from compact packages with a turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 that bangs out 325 horsepower with 20 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.

Going up the power scale, a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 conveys 375 horsepower. To hit the next notch, a 5-liter V8 is needed that knocks out 395 horsepower. The F-150 Raptor and Limited editions get their brute force from the previously-mentioned 3.5-liter turbo V6 that's received a few tweaks to bring its output up to 450 horsepower. Buyers wanting an F-150 capable of 22 mpg city and 30 mpg highway have a 3-liter turbodiesel V6 option that does this along with reaching 250 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque.

Packed with Safety Features

2020 Ford F-150Awaiting its own testing, the 2020 F-150 possesses the same reliable body as its 2019 sibling. Ford follows up with safety components like a rearview camera, antilock brakes, traction and stability control, and airbags.

The 2020 F-150 also takes passenger safety into the future with items like adaptive cruise control, lane exiting warning with self-correction capability, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alarm, and even forward collision and pedestrian recognition that triggers an alert and automatically applies the brakes if necessary. They're all part of the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite found in all F-150 models.
